Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using North, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the service. If you are using North on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

North is an AI-powered leadership coaching platform designed for managers and team leaders. The service provides context-aware AI coaching, 1-on-1 meeting preparation, team health tracking, coaching playbooks, daily huddle generation, and other management tools. AI coaching is powered by the Google Gemini API and is designed to supplement, not replace, your own professional judgment.

3. Your Account

To use North, you must sign in using Google OAuth. By signing in, you authorize North to access your Google account information (name, email, and profile picture) and to store your coaching data in our secure cloud database.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Plans & Pricing

North offers the following tiers:

• Free — Core coaching features with daily message limits and up to 5 team members. Free forever.
• Pro ($19/month) — Unlimited messages, unlimited team members, full feature access including playbooks, journal, huddle generator, and all themes.
• Team ($12/user/month) — Everything in Pro, plus unlimited skip-level managers, org-wide visibility, and priority support.

Pricing is subject to change. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect. Active subscribers will be notified via the email associated with their account. Payment processing (when available) will be handled by Stripe.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Abuse, harass, or send threatening content through the AI coaching system
• Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or derive training data from the AI models
• Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or access controls
• Use the service to generate content that is harmful, discriminatory, or misleading
• Share your account access with unauthorized third parties
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Intellectual Property

North and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are owned by North and are protected by intellectual property laws. The North name, logo, and brand elements are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.

8. Data Ownership

Your data belongs to you. All coaching data you create in North — team members, 1-on-1 notes, journal entries, pulse ratings, and conversation history — is stored securely on our secure servers and remains your property.

• We do not sell or share your coaching data with third parties
• We do not use your data to train AI models
• We do not claim any ownership rights over your content
• You can export or delete your data at any time

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, North and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with:

• Your use of or inability to use the service
• Any AI-generated content or coaching advice
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
• Any third-party conduct on the service

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

• You can stop using North and revoke its access from your Google Account at any time.
• We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service.

Upon termination, you may request an export of your coaching data. We will delete all data (coaching data, encrypted tokens, session data) associated with your account upon request.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in a mutually agreed-upon jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the North application at least 15 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
